interview / jack 2 yrs







1) [ We mutually decide on his name. ]


Jack.

2) How old are you? 

Two.

[ We decide together how many fingers that is. ]

3) What is your favorite color?

Blue.

4) What is your favorite food?

Noodles.

5) What is your favorite song?

I don't know.

What do you like to sing? 

Jesus Loves Me. 

6) What is your favorite thing to do?

Your new light, Mom. It's brown. I'll show you where it is.

[ I didn't let him leave the couch to show me, so still have no idea what he was talking about. ]

7) What is your favorite toy?

Tractors.

[I  do not believe this is true.  But there was one nearby belonging to Grayson. ]

8) What do you want to be when you get older?

This many.

[ Holds up one finger. ]

You want to be one when you grow up?

Yes.


9) What kind of car would you like to drive?

Like Daddy's car.

10) What color?

Silver. And yours is black.

11) What kind of animals do you want to have at your house?

Bear.

12) When you're all grown up, what are you going to cook for dinner?

Noodles. And iPad.  It's going to be so good and I'll eat it all up. I'll eat your iPad all up.

13) How many children do you want to have when you're grown up?

A lot of children.

14) What are their names going to be?

They're going to be Papa, Oma, Tia, Mama, Dad, Jack, Grayson, Aunt Summer, Milo, Uncle Jim, Mike, BB and ALSO... friends like Sarah, and who's that girl? 

Ava?

Yeah. And who's that boy?

Noah? ...These are like people you've seen in the last 24 hours?  And now you want to name your kids after them?

Yeah. Noah and Sarah. That's like the mom. And Mike. That's like the dad.

15) Are you going to be married?

I'm not going to be married.

Are you going to have a wife?

I'm not going to have a wife.

No wife, just lots of kids?

Yes.


Unfortunately the camera shortly thereafter ran out of room and the second half of his interview was cut off.  Such is the plight of the second born!  Jack, we do remember you saying you want to live at school, which you will be starting on Wednesday. And you answered without hesitation that you like to watch "ELMO!" on TV.  You make us smile, little boy!!!

1) Grayson, thank you for letting me interview you when you are four years old.
What is your favorite color these days?

Red.

2) What is your favorite song?

Bluegrass.  And rock and roll. 

Do you have a favorite song?

The Monkees and "I'm a Believer".

3) What's your favorite animal?

Butterfly.
Let's do insects now.

Ok, what's your favorite insect?

All kinds of spiders.  Poison, not poison. Those kinds of spiders. Spiders that bite.

4) What is your favorite kind of food?

Ice cream and chocoloate. Now let's do drinks.

Ok, whats your favorite drink?

Chocolate milk. And apple juice.

Do you have any other favorite foods?

Green beans. Not cooked green beans.


5) What is your favorite thing to do?

Play with toys and go down water slides and go down Splash Mountain.

6) What is your favorite toy?

Construction machines, like the ones over there.  If you look, you'll see.

7) What would you like to be when you get older?

Police. 

What will you do?

I think I will be a regular police officer.

What do police officers do?

Put people in jail because they're driving too fast and put handcuffs on people, just like Batman does. 

8) What kind of car will you drive?

Police car.

9) What color will it be?

Just like a regular police car.


10) What kind of animals will you have in your house when you're grown up?

Two dogs. No, not dogs. Two cats. Just two cats. Actually I'll have five cats.
...I know I'm going to name one "Sweetie Pie".  And one "Milo". And I think I'm going to name the next one "Sweet Kitty". ...And "Love Kitty", "Love Cat" and "Loveskin."

Is that six cats? 

I think so. 

11) What kind of food will you cook in your house when you're grown up?

I won't be good at cooking I don't think.

Why is that? I've seen you in the kitchen. You know how to stir things.

But I need some grown ups to help me.

But what about when you're all grown up and you can do everything by yourself?

But what if I can't?

You can call me and I'll help you.

Okay.

So what do you think you'd like to cook then?

Macaroni and cheese and some noodles. Just plain noodles and tomato sauce. That's what I'd like to cook. 
And Ill cook that all the time. Just different drinks sometimes.

12) Are you ready for this question?

Yes.

How many children would you like to have someday?

Five.

So six cats and five kids?

Yes.



13) Where are you going to live?

A house with lots of calculators. ...so everyone can learn math.
And a house with lots of outlets... because I'm going to use the big kind of calculators.

14) What is your favorite thing to watch on TV?

Star Wars stuff. Cool stuff. Really science stuff.

15) What is your favorite thing to grow in the garden?

Strawberries. Tomatoes. Apples.

16) How much do you love your mom?

More than you'll ever know. Not even a million. Just more than a million.

17) Is there anything that you want to tell me before the interview is over now that you're four?

Yes. I love you SO MUCH, I'll give you a kiss. And a hug.

sprinkler sillies


You can't very well bid farewell to summer without a fun afternoon in a sprinkler!
Tia & Papa bought you a pretty cool one...

This is how you run through it!

we can aim it at Tia!
Offering mama a nice wet hug.
Getting one of his "great ideas!!!"
We mistakenly just thought you were thirsty.
But as usual, you had a plan!
And you were excited about it.
Tia was happy to document these shenanigans from a distance.
Here comes the water.
Luckily mom's hands are still as big as your mouth.
