It was strange to wake up on Easter in a place so far from home and our normal traditions.
To start with, there was a ship that cost $500,000/week to rent in our "backyard" and the occupants kept all their lights on all night long. Maybe they were hoping to catch a glimpse of the Easter Bunny? Mom and Dad later saw an out-of-place security guard on the island so maybe it WAS the Easter Bunny.

They stayed there for 3 days. Mama wished for binoculars. |
This was the only day of our time in the Bahamas that we set an alarm. We didn't want to miss the special sunrise service on the beach.
It was breathtaking and very much worth waking up early!

Church with no shoes? Okay! |
After the service, a reception was held at Orchid Bay. The boys checked out the docks, keeping an eye out for sharks.

You really did look everywhere. |
At one point, you were pretty sure you'd seen one...
Mom and Dad had never heard of a lemon shark. It does exist though. Way to be the family animal expert, Gray!
Later it would turn into a heated debate over whether what you'd seen was really a shark pup (Gray) or "just a great big ol' fish" (Jack). For now though, it was just more brotherly discussion.
After resting back at home for a bit, reflecting and dreaming about what else: sharks, we were re-energized for more Easter-Sunday-in-the-Bahamas fun.
Then it was off to Nippers for their big (HUGE) Easter Egg hunt.

Ready for their first egg hunt on the beach. |
Four hundred eggs were hidden in the sand, and another four hundred in the reef!
Worn out but hungry, we stopped for lunch at Island Flavors - Jack's favorite restaurant in the Bahamas.
Then we crashed for a bit.
After our home-cooked, best attempt at an Easter dinner (grilled chicken that turned out to be hard to cook all the way through, salad, Hawaiian rolls, green peas, and wild rice), we went for a stroll on the ocean side near where Mom and Dad had gotten to stay in previous visits.
Somehow Grayson and Jack still had energy to burn, so they ran more races.
Back home in time to see the sunset (and later, eat popcorn while we watched UVA play in the Elite Eight at Grandpa and BB's). It was a very full and very memorable Easter day! So much so that you were content to wait and see if the Easter Bunny had come to our house back home in Virginia, maybe just providing Tia could send photographic proof he'd been there...
