Bahamas ...with Boys / Getting There

3:50 am on a Wednesday - time to wake up and take the shuttle from the hotel to the airport.
Ohhhhh but two little boys could not be roused.
Grayson had been awake until almost 11pm the night before, too excited to sleep.

After fixing a small problem concerning too many people in our group with the same first and last names, we were able to get boarding passes and make it through security in time to be the last to board the plane.  It was good we didn't have any bags to check!
Our first of three flights was from Richmond to Atlanta.  This was also Jack's first flight of his life!
He was ready.

But he was also tired.

Daddy was tired, too. What was Gray?
In Atlanta we caught a second wind.  This is an expression to say that your energy came back.  Which is good because we were there for many hours.

Two more planes later and we finally landed in Marsh Harbour.  We got a taxi.  It was driven by a lady named Brenda who Mama recognized from previous years.

Brenda and her taxi drove us to the the dock where we would meet the ferry.  The last regular ferry had already run for the day, so we waited for it to make a special trip back for us and another family.

The boat ride to Great Guana Cay gave Jack time to reflect on his journey so far.

Happily, we didn't need any personal flotation devices this time.

What are you thinking about Jack?

There were twice as many kids as grown-ups on the boat! Grayson suggested they could attack and take over, but fortunately this did not happen.

Thumb's up. Wearing the ball caps you picked out.

By sunset, we'd made it to our home sweet home for the week! It was a long and wonderful travel day.

This is the dock at our house for the week, on the "sea" side.
